The Caravan of the Future - Cargo.S

My outer design (closed and extended) conveys a great spirit of travel, adventure and nostalgia. It relates to my childhood spent traveling with my father, who was an aircraft engineer in the French Air Force. My inspiration for the outer design and its aerodynamic shape came from aircraft and car engineering, mainly the French aircraft my father flew. The fuselage section, the shapes of the windows, entrance door, slide-out bedroom and extended rear deck are all associated with my admiration for those flying machines and the chance I had to be close to them.

They were all classic aircraft, cargo planes mostly: the Nord Atlas 2501, Dakota DC3 and Dassault Flamand. Even the back wheel cover of the 2-Chevaux Citröen was part of my design research work for the outer concept, notably for the colored external curve which runs around the top and the bottom of the fuselage. I worked passionately on the outer project and succeeded in combining the past and present, modernity with a twist of traditionalism, functionality and a new aesthetic to the caravan.
